EA has been taking flak lately for their aggressive microtransaction tactics, especially with regards to games like Battlefront II and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. The latest target of this criticism is the game's new battlepack system.

In short, the battlepacks are cosmetic boxes that can be purchased in-game using real money or earned through regular gameplay. They contain a variety of items such as character skins, weapon skins, emotes, and more. Sounds harmless enough, right? Wrong!

Here's where things get sketchy: each battlepack costs anywhere from $10 to $20 depending on its rarity level (ranging from common all the way up to epic). And here's the kicker - there are no guarantees about what you'll actually receive inside these pricey little packages.

Want a certain character skin? Forget it! You might luck out and get something close, but don't hold your breath. Want an exclusive emote or weapon skin? Good luck with that too!

EA claims this system is designed to encourage players to spend more time in-game by giving them reasons (read: ways) to keep coming back for more loot drops. And let's be honest - it works! Players will go through the motions of completing missions, grinding levels, and even spending real cash just hoping against hope that they'll finally get their hands on something truly rare.

But is this really what we want from our games? Is playing an otherwise enjoyable experience suddenly turned into a never-ending grind for virtual items?

In my opinion, no. It feels like EA is nickel-and-diming us at every turn - first with microtransactions themselves, now by making us shell out even more money just to maybe get some decent in-game rewards.

And don't even me started on the whole 'but it's all optional' argument! Newsflash: when you're forced into spending hundreds of dollars just to have a chance at progressing through your game's story mode because certain items are locked behind these ridiculous microtransaction walls... THAT'S NOT OPTIONAL!

So what can we do about this? First and foremost, vote with our wallets. If enough people express their displeasure over EA's microtransaction practices by refusing to buy games like Battlefront II or simply not spending any more money on them altogether - maybe they'll get the message.

Secondly, speak out! Share your thoughts online using social media platforms like Twitter or Facebook. Let other gamers know about these shady business tactics so we can all band together and put pressure on publishers like EA to change their ways.

Lastly (but certainly not leastly), support games that do things right! There are plenty of excellent titles out there today that offer a more traditional gaming experience without resorting to microtransactions or loot boxes. By giving these developers your hard-earned cash instead of throwing it at greedy companies like EA - we're sending them the message loud and clear: WE DON'T WANT THIS SH*T!
